About Us

See Change Now is dedicated to enhancing educational experiences for both teachers and students at the middle school, high school, and higher education levels.

We sponsor innovative projects that harness the power of digital media and gaming technology to engage and inspire learners. We believe education should be an interactive and immersive experience, and strive to support initiatives that utilize cutting-edge tools to make learning exciting and accessible for all.

Sponsored Projects

We support projects that use educational games or gamified learning platforms to make learning more enjoyable and interactive. Exploring the effectiveness of interactive media in education, assessing the impact of different technologies and approaches on learning outcomes, student engagement, and retention are areas of special interest.

Earth Island Game


An exploration game where players care for their island that’s been devastated from climate related changes. Players travel to distant lands to discover new technologies that will help them rejuvenate their island.

Frog Lab Game


NSF funded iUSE grant, in this game a player learns about behavioral ecology and game theory through the lens of a poison dart frog. Aposematism, Hawk-Dove, and Rock-Paper-Scissors are the main topics in this interactive lab.

Jurassic Lab Game


East Carolina University and our affiliate, Connected Universe, collaborated to create a Jurassic world where students track dinosaur species collecting genetic data to be analyzed and mapped onto a phylogenetic tree.

3D meets AI


Since the onset of the internet, humanity has had to grapple with an increasing torrent of information. There's a growing need for more effective ways to learn and AI is a topic of particular interst for us.

Math City


Using game technology to create puzzle-solving challenges in a fantastic city where players learn math by doing everyday activities to discover how math relates to their own lives. Great for engaging diverse learning styles.

First Friday


Since the pandemic and loosing our event space, First Friday is on pause. We hope to start another program where we can share ideas, be ceative and support the local digital artists in Santa Cruz County.

Board Members

We are a group of programmers, artists, educators, and scientists who enjoy sharing creative ideas that intersect technology, science, and education. Our interests range in topics from climate change, to evolution, machine learning, math, biology – the sciences in general. We believe that gaming technology offers an outstanding ability to convey abstract concepts inside an engaging format, and a natural way to connect with multiple learning styles.

Anne-Marie Napoli

With a keen interest in new technologies combined with a background in biology and visual arts, Anne-Marie brings to See Change an ambition to fuse education with interactive media. She's started several small digital media companies, as well as this non-profit organization (originally called HubX). Her particular interests are in exploring how interactive games can inspire critical thinking, especially for teenage learners

Alan Peevers

Alan is a software developer and inventor with over 20 patents spanning music synthesis, graphics hardware, content sharing/networking, and audio processing. After a long career in software, he switched his focus to work at a renewable energy startup and has since retired to support individuals and organizations working to solve climate change by sharing his network and expertise. He is an alumnus of the Terra.Do Learning For Action climate program.

Aleksandra Wolska

Aleks is a theater artist and performance scholar with award-winning and internationally acclaimed productions to her credit. She taught at UMN and Stanford Summer Institute and is a founder of Theater Between, an experimental performance company in Santa Cruz, CA. Her current work centers on performance and ecology.

David Warren

David is a retired Cabrillo College teacher. At Cabrillo, program director, counselor for returning Vietnam veterans, and computer teacher. He helped to establish adaptive computer labs for disabled students and initiated the Digital Media program. He founded TEDxSantaCruz, was a Hospice volunteer and currently serves on the NorCal Elders Climate Action Leadership team.

Eric Thiermann

Eric is an Academy Award nominated short, documentary film producer and cinematographer, and founder of Impact Creative in Santa Cruz. He has lensed hundreds of environmental and socially relevant documentaries during the past 40 years. His fascination with story-telling and new media converged with his co-founding of Connected Universe, a force majeure for virtual education.

Ethan Summers

Ethan is an Emmy-awarded digital artist with over 30 years of experience in visual effects for feature film, educational software design, and science visualization. His expertise in these areas and creative work at Almost Human Media is an ideal compliment to forward the vision of communicating world changing ideas in science and technology.
